The Sustainable Chemical Technologies Competence Center is a research and development center located in Kohtla-Järve, which operates mainly in the fields of chemistry and oil shale, but also in other techniques and technologies. The center offers development and laboratory services, intellectual services and carries out sectoral standardization.

• biofuels analyses and investigations
• analyses of water 
• processes of organic chemistry, including hydrogenation, high pressure, and high-
  temperature reactions
• thermal processing of materials (pyrolysis)
